Cadantis was instructed to investigate a drainage asset dispute after Severn Trent Water (STW) records incorrectly identified a culverted watercourse as a public sewer. This classification resulted in the client being incorrectly charged for a sewer connection.
Our forensic drainage investigation combined historical mapping, site evidence, and technical analysis to demonstrate that the asset was a natural watercourse rather than an adopted public sewer. Cadantis prepared a comprehensive evidence package to support the client’s case and challenge the utility records.
Following review of our findings, STW accepted the evidence and amended its sewer records, overturning the original classification. As a result, the client’s non-connection appeal was successful, and they received a full refund of the charges that had been incorrectly applied.
